2018-2019 Digital Media Project funded by CITL
The following videos were created by students as part of a digital media project funded by CITL (The Center for Innovations in Teaching and Learning) at UC Santa Cruz. The goal of the project was to highlight local practitioners who use Medical Spanish at work. As part of the project, SPAN 5M students interviewed providers about their job responsibilities and how they got involved in their careers. The students were responsible for all levels of implementation- from deciding who to interview and contacting that person, drafting the questions, checking out camera and microphone, and conducting the interview. The Digital Scholarship Commons provided training on the use of audiovisual equipment and the instructor assisted in editing the interview questions and facilitating work flow.
A HUGE thank you to CITL for making this project possible and to Research Assistant Noé Madrueño for assistance in curating the videos and for conducting the interviews on the importance of culture in healing and the practice of traditional medicine.
All videos have been edited for clarity.
